About this listen

The king's sudden death leaves his son Manasseh as the new ruler. Overcome with sorrow, Manasseh is angry toward God and begins a reign of terror that shocks the kingdom. His own insecurity prompts the death of his closest advisors, dividing the faithful in two. Barely escaping the carnage, his best friend Joshua suffers the excruciating loss of his family and plans revenge.

I totally enjoyed this series, but this last novel was looking mainly at the depravity of man and the result of unforgiveness on a person's life. Joshua was a strange character, one minute likeable and the next totally hideous. It highlighted God's forgiveness for all, and how Manasseh, the most evil of the biblical kings was restored back to God. I also learned of the temple at Elephantine which I did not know about. Miriam was fairly annoying, one of those people that seems to get everywhere and poking her nose into everything, rather like a pesky mosquito circling round your face. But then, she was needed for the story. Will probably listen to the series again, overall very good. The narrator is outstanding.

Excellent series based on scripture

It makes the Biblical world so living and real because it was. The people were had the same emotions of love, hate, jealousy. Excellent.

Loved this book and really appreciate the time and effort taken to glean all the available knowledge out there to make this part of biblical history come alive. I can't wait to read past 2.
