It is arguable whether the dynamic duo are Peyton Brooks and Marco D'angelo or author ML Hamilton and narrator Kelley Hazen. Whichever way you consider it, this book delivers a fantastic homicide suspense with all the requisite Peyton and Marco dramatic flair, in their early years. As always ML Hamilton somehow manages to balance the narrative with just enough humour to counter the suspense. Kelley Hazen delivers the voices of the characters so exquisitely that she converts a single woman narration into a layered and complex single woman production. What I especially loved were the Easter eggs that appear in this book that hint at the adventures to come!

M L Hamilton never disappoints with her writing. It is only made better by the familiar voices of Kelley Hazen. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and completed it over 2 evenings. I loved the story and you can get straight into it because of the familiar characters I have come to know so well. If you haven’t listened to these books, I can not recommend them enough.

Another brilliant Peyton Brookes book, can’t wait for the next one in this early cases series. I highly recommend great characters and awesome storyline.
