Summary

St Andrew’s Day. A back shift from hell. A city about to erupt.

Another excellent book from Ed James, More intrigue from the Scottish police team with more gritty experiences.. Sgt Rakesh Siyal, is waiting impatiently for his recall back from uniform to Detective, as with most of Ed James books the plot is up and running fast, over a few days with threads that weave in and out of the storyline pulling certain characters together where you hadn't thought they'd be. and as usual the end is nothing like you had been led towards, one surprise after another. Cant wait for the next one

This was a fabulous read a great spinoff which made me laugh out loud. The characters are enchanting and it’s wonderful getting to know them.

we join this book with Sgt Rakesh Siyal, waiting impatiently for his recall back from uniform to Detective, as with most of Ed James books the plot is up and running fast, over a few days, it starts with the late shift, where the drunks are out to provoke whoever crosses their path, and for shunty and his fellow officers to restore calm to the streets! there's lots of threads that weave in and out of the storyline pulling certain characters together where you hadn't thought they'd be. and as usual the end is nothing like you had been led towards, one surprise after another.. including what shunty will be upto in the next episode another 5🌟 offering from Ed James, roll on book 📖 3!!!

Rikesh is back in uniform and trying to establish some respect and earn his stripes. They happen upon a murder and Rob Marahall just happens to be in the area. Seconded to work the case Rikesh finds it hard working the case but as a sargeant jot a detective. A good story that has set it up well for the next book.

Ed James is very good at treading the line between humour, both police and criminal and having a really gritty storyline, giving his stories a good balance of light and dark. A very well written book that sees Rakesh stretching his legs and really being able to carry the story. Angus King of course does a fantastic narration.
