Pushing onto 18 years now and I still unashamedly love these books. Yes they're simplistic, but maybe that's what makes them such a comforting listen. You can never outgrow the Famous Five and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

It's the Whitsun Holidays, so what better way for the Five to spend their vacation, but camping up the titular location? There, they meet with Julian and Dick's schoolfriend Toby Thomas, his young, pigling obsessed brother, Benny and their courageous pilot cousin, Jeff, who's stationed at a nearby RAF base. Cue mysterious storms, an odd butterfly farm and a kidnapping.

It's standard Five Fare: camping, springs, teas etc. Sometimes Julian can come across as a little prig, but hey ho.

Jan Francis was an excellent narrator, especially in regard to the youngster Benny.
