From #1 New York Times bestselling author Elsie Silver comes a small-town, forbidden, rivals-to-lovers romance, the first book in a brand-new Western romance series, Emerald Lake.

Professional bull rider, Emmett Bush, is not looking for love. He’s looking for a paycheck to save his family’s farm from bankruptcy. So when he agrees to be the leading man on a hot new reality dating show, Romance Ranch, he’s already decided it’s all one big performance.

Until Julia Silva walks onto his property. Smart, snarky, beautiful, and off-limits in more ways than one. As the location consultant on set and the little sister of his most bitter professional rival, she’s the last woman who should pique his interest.

Julia has been warned about Emmett. She knows better than to fall for his cocky swagger, broad shoulders, and smoldering good looks. Plus, she’s sworn off relationships.

But as Julia and Emmett work together, mutual distaste grows into an unexpected connection and then… something more.

Soon, they find themselves searching for excuses to spend time together and out of reach of the cameras.

Knowing glances. Stolen kisses. Secret rendezvous.

Still, Emmett signed up to play the role of an eligible bachelor searching for the one. His family’s land and legacy depend on him completing the show.

The problem is, he’s already fallen in love.

Just not with a contestant.

Another winner by Elsie Silver, I love the build of the characters in this story. The MMC and FMC feel real and relatable, using humour was a defense mechanism these two turn in to an art. And the love and acceptance of the wider family have you yearning to be a part of it. Oma and Opa are absolute legends and my favourite characters by far! I can’t wait to continue the series.

Another epic love story - where our broken pieces are seen and softened

As a massive Elsie Silver fan, I have to admit I struggled a bit at the beginning of this one. For the first half of the book, the pacing felt a little slow, and I was worried because nothing was truly jumping out at me. The reality TV dating show premise brings plenty of drama, complete with some incredibly irritating contestants like Evelyn, but things really start to spark because Emmett is only there to save his family's farm from financial ruin. The real magic kicks in thanks to his history with Jules. Between their sworn secret of something that happened with Julia on a cruise ship and the fact that she is his rival Theo Silva’s (from Chestnut Springs) little sister, the tension is delicious.
Once the story finds its groove, it completely delivers. While the actual romance takes its time to build, it was absolutely worth the wait! Elsie Silver knows exactly how to write alpha heroes who are completely, utterly consumed by the women they love, and Emmett's intense devotion to Jules is stunning. The supporting cast shines just as bright; Emmett’s sister Parker is such a wise, grounded presence during the heavy moments, and Oma is an absolute badass grandma who steals every scene she is in.
What really pushed this into a fantastic read for me was the final stretch. By the last 10%, the emotional depth completely caught up with me and actually had me in tears. The declarations of love are incredibly profound, moving, and beautifully written. Best of all, we are spared a frustrating third-act breakup, which made the final payoff and that last, lingering look between them so much more satisfying. It started as a bit of a struggle, but it ended up being a beautiful, emotional, and hard-earned 4-star read!
Thank you Teddy and Julia for an amazing experience!

The story just delivered!

Julia was so funny and the fact she made up her own mind about Emmet instead of leaning into the fact he is her brothers rival made me like her instantly.
Their connection was so cute and Teddy did an amazing job voicing Theo and his inner monologues, he was funny and sweet.
It was clear these two were attracted to each other even though their attraction was forbidden in different ways.
The reality tv show behind-the-scenes were a nice bonus for a reality tv lover like me.
But the oma and opa mentions made it extra special since we call our grandparents that too in Dutch

This might be my favorite Elsie Silver
