In the late 1990s, Infinity Foundation played a significant role in countering misinterpretations and distortions about Lord Rama taught in American schools and being presented in the media, which led to the term ‘Rama Phobia’. Without the foundation’s timely intervention, a wave of disinformation and harmful biases about the Ramayana would have spread unchecked, leading to grave misunderstandings and discrimination against Indians and Hinduism.
Fighting Rama Phobia in the United States of America details the distortion of facts and extreme and misleading biases in a project sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities in the USA that aimed to teach the Ramayana to eighth-grade American students as part of a multicultural initiative. The audiobook also features the initiatives taken by Infinity Foundation to promote and present the Ramayana accurately to the Western world. These efforts included hosting conferences, engaging with parents and the community, documenting the influence of the Ramayana and other epics on popular films like Star Wars, and examining the experiences of the Indian indentured diaspora
