Danger in the air. Lovers on the brink.

A Charm of Magpies, Book 3: With the justiciary understaffed, a series of horrifying occult murders to be investigated, and a young student who is flying - literally - off the rails, magical law enforcer Stephen Day is under increasing stress. And his relationship with his aristocratic lover, Lord Crane, is beginning to feel the strain. Crane chafes at the restrictions of England's laws, and there's a worrying development in the blood-and-sex bond he shares with Stephen. A development that makes a sensible man question if they should be together at all.

When a thief strikes at the heart of Crane's home, a devastating loss brings his closest relationships into bitter conflict - especially his relationship with Stephen. And as old enemies, new enemies, and unexpected enemies paint the lovers into a corner, the pressure threatens to tear them apart.

Warning: Contains hot-blooded sex, cold-blooded murder, sinister magical goings-on, and a lot of swearing.

An excellent listen. Heartfelt, hot, good mystery, interesting world and superb characters. Good reader too.

What a lovely trio of works so masterfully read and with such humor. Enjoyed them so much and sorry that they are read. Will no doubt revisit them with much joy!

This is not the best book in the series but it's still very good. The narrator is superb.

K. J. Charles continues to be very creative in the world building around shamans, practitioners, their powers and the killers they hunt (discriptive deaths indeed, poor chaps). I really enjoyed this trillogy. Will have to read more from this author.

The book was fast paced, with so much happening our lovers were at the brink. You really felt the tension when they argued both stubborn and hot tempered. Glad when the saboteur was discovered and we got a lovely ending in the bonues chapter.

And also a sneek peek at the spin-off character yes?

Again props to Cornell Collins for being a great narrator for the series.

Another great adventure in this series of books. Each installment grows the characters and mythology of this imagined world.
