About this listen
His adventures on the road are by turns funny and moving as he meditates on growing older, the terrors and joys of trying to be funny in front of a live audience, and on the nature of comedy itself. He interweaves stories of his former laddish behavior and also tells a love story about a girl he had a brief fling with years ago who comes back into his life while he is touring. At the age of 50, Frank Skinner asks himself: Is it time to grow up?
©2008 Frank Skinner (P)2008 Random House AudiobooksDue to all the above this was my first chosen download from 'Audible', and some of it is hilarious - all of it is honest, sometimes poignant and touching, but some of it just too close to the mark for me. I didn't consider myself a prude, but some of the graphic detail on encounters and the repeated swearing I found difficult to 'listen' to. I emphasise 'listen' because I'm not so sure I would have felt the same way 'reading' it, so maybe it is more down to my own sensibilities (however they've been formed).
If you know Frank Skinner of old, have been to his live stand up (sadly haven't had the pleasure) then I have no doubt you will love this. If like me you're more attuned to the TV & radio Frank, then you too may have to open your mind, and keep this for adult only listening.
This is a very clever, very funny and very honest man - and you get all those attributes in this book, just be sure the audience is appropriate. I will be downloading his other books (just not sure in which format) and laughing out loud with the man who I believe is a 'National Treasure'.
Frank, but not as I know him.....

Based on this, if there was a tour venue near me, I'd be there!
