Summary

It’s Blair Brawsiski’s ride or die year. After a decade in the AHL, if he doesn’t get called up to the NHL this season, it’s time to hang up his skates and focus on other things. But between a second job and family priorities, his attention isn’t where it should be, and his dreams of making it to the big leagues are dwindling by the day.

Hiring a personal assistant to help out with day-to-day stuff? Probably the smartest move Blair’s made in a while.

But when that PA turns out to be an assertive baker who’s exactly Blair’s type? Blair can’t help but wish those dexterous hands would knead something other than pastry dough.

Charlie desperately needs extra income. With his expenses about to go up, it’s find a second job or get evicted. Getting hired as Blair’s PA is perfect: flexible hours, decent wages, and a scorching-hot professional hockey player who’s willing to let him use his gorgeous kitchen for his baked goods.

Too bad that hockey player is exactly Charlie’s type. Too bad Charlie knows better than to date his new boss....

Charlie carries the past with him every day in the form of anxiety and the feeling that he's never good enough. Then along comes Blair who proceeds to show Charlie that it's ok to reach out for help occasionally.

I fell in love with both of the guys, their story is so heartwarming and sweet. They both have their problems, which they work together to overcome. Blair's life stressed me out at the beginning of the book, so busy, and never ever thinking about himself, constantly on the go! He's certainly a great son, brother and teammate. Charlie's situation just saddened me so much, I really just wanted to reach into the book and hug him. Together their story develops into a lovely romance, once they get their heads together. It's not only a romance though, but also a story about family (which isn't limited to the one you were born into), opening your heart to that family, and accepting that they care for you and your welfare. Like the first book, it is nicely written, and I can't wait to read more in the series! Having listened to the audible version, it really does bring the story to life. Charlie especially is so sweet, and Blair so giving. The narrator does a really good job, representing both characters, plus their highs and lows. 4.5 stars.

Sweet Hockey Romance.

Much like the MCs, this book is utterly charming and lovely. It's just made of cute, with a lot of sweet and funny moments thrown in. I particularly loved the incident when Blair first met Charlie's dad, I couldn't stop giggling over that. It was also fun to hear all the baking and pastry references, and the titillating effect they apparently have on Blair. Me too, guys, me too. I listened to the audio version of this title, narrated by Aaron Hokanson, and I definitely recommend it.

A hockey player on the verge of burning out and giving up his dream. A cute baker with money, trust and abandonment issues. When these two men find each other, the connection is immediate, and won’t be denied, despite Charlie’s (the cute baker) best efforts at resisting.
Amy Aislin is one of my go-to, one-click-buy authors: I love her writing style, the pace, the settings, the hockey… just everything!

Loved it!

Charlie and Blair’s sweet story is brought to life by Hokanson in a delightful way.

Blair is an over-worked, scatterbrained, hot mess at the beginning of the novel. With Charlie’s assistance (& support and eventual love) he morphs into a doting boyfriend who excels at his chosen career and maintains strong family bonds. Charlie himself goes from flailing (in debt, living on his own for the first time, unsure how he’s going to pay the bills) to being a sure-footed small business owner. Through it all, their love blossoms and grows and they each become stronger because of the other.

Full of apology flour, an apology sandwich and guilt smoothies, Aislin has a lyrical voice in storytelling. She has created a wonderful tale and Hokanson’s already showing growth is his narration, despite this being a new gig for him. He has a firm, soothing voice with already increasing inflection and tones.

Can’t wait for more stories in this series.

I really enjoyed Game Changer, I am getting used to this narrator after struggling a bit in book one, I thought he did a better job with book 2.
The two MCs, Charlie and Blair were great characters and I loved seeing them get together.
Blair annoyed me with the way he would help out his family to the detriment of his own needs and I really wanted him to say no and start taking time for the things that were important in his career and personal life sooner than he did.
Charlie was such a sunshiny character and I really enjoyed getting to know him.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the other cousins in future books.

Loved the MCs
