Summary

Magda is tall and glamorous, Nadine is willowy and 'gothic'. And Ellie ... well, Ellie is just plain normal. The three girls have been best friends forever, but now Ellie is convinced she's fat, Nadine wants to be a model, and Magda worries that her appearance is giving guys the wrong idea. The pressure is on for them to change the way they look – but can they learn to love themselves, just the way they are?©1998 Jacqueline Wilson (P)2014 Bolinda Publishing Chapter Books & Readers Literature & Fiction Funny

I really enjoyed this book. I felt very contented with the main character Ellie I have always felt insecure with my body but I feel like I do not need to worry anymore

narrator had good expression but I felt the elderly women reading the story didn't really fit the character of the young girl ellie. but i like the way her voice told the story it made you want to listen all the time. it was a unusual story as I've never read something like that before but I wish I had as i LOVED IT. i think it has to be my new favourite book! some people complained about their being a lot of swear words I don't of course think swear words and things to be encouraging but I think those words are still part of the story and are words to fit the moment. being honest though there were only 4 or 5 swears in the whole book so not at all bad. great story and recommend it to older children and adults of all ages! FAB!!

love it

This is the second book of the 'series' and its one of my favourites, don't get me wrong I love them all but this one was especially good. The other books in the series are; Girls in Love, Girls in Tears & Girls out late, and I own them all.

I loved this one especially because I really feel the author knew what she was writing about, she had done her research or maybe even gone through it herself because it all felt so real. When I was listening it was like I could of easily been Ellie and not many books can capture this subject as well.

As you know the book is about Ellie and her struggles with food, dieting and wanting to be thin. You could say she had the starting of an eating disorder and it was all done very well. You see I too suffered from this problem, I am now recovered (well as much as you can be because often all those thoughts don't just disappear) and as I was listening to this audio book it was like going back in time to when I was going through it which is why I think the author has done a brilliant job.

Really great audio book, I'd highly recommend it. Each book in the series are like separate stories so don't worry if you don't have the others as it wont effect your enjoyment of the book. Obviously I recommend you get each book as you'll enjoy them all but what I am really saying is don't let not having all the other books put you off getting this one, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as I still do and I'm in my twenties (my husband even likes it also and he is older than me!). I would say along with the other books in this series its not for young children, more teenagers and upwards.

One of the best out of the "series"
