If you could sum up Good As Dead in three words, what would they be?

This is a book I read on my honeymoon two years ago. I absolutely loved the audio version and it was great to hear the author narrate it. I love the Tom Thorne books & have listened to all except one in the last 8wks.

loved it

Considering how ropey the previous installment of the long-running DI Thorne series was, this book was a real return to form. It was gripping from start to finish. Recommended.

The mood of this book grips the listener from the very beginning. The twists and turns of the plot as the story unfolds will have you believing that you have traced the developments to a satisfying conclusion only to execute some nifty side-stepping and prove you wrong. As for the narration, Mark Billingham is exceptional - even better than some of the radio actors that narrate Audible's books. He gave distinct and believable voice to every character. An astounding achievement.

Astounding accomplishment

I'm steadily working my way through this series and I think this tenth book is my favourite so far. It starts with a bang when a shopkeeper takes two of his customers hostage and then insists that Thorne looks into his sons death while in a young offenders prison. The plot is exciting, fast paced and nail-bitingly tense as Thorne raced against time to solve the mystery before anyone was hurt. This is definitely Thorne at his best and I didn't want to put this one down.

Mark does an amazing job narrating his own books. To me he is Thorne and should have played him in the TV series!

Best in the series ......... so far!
