About this listen

Four strong women. Two love stories. One obsessed heiress.

When winning thoroughbred trainer Joan Caulder comes up short an exercise rider at Churchill Downs, she hires freelance gallop girl Cailen Eagleton who, on the first day in the saddle, shows she can ride like a dream as well as distract her new boss with bold confidence and a rear end made to be framed in chaps. But Cailen believes all horse trainers are egomaniacs who sacrifice horses' interests for the sake of money and prestige.

Imagine the L-Word meets the American turf, with a high-stakes ending, and you'll have the feel of this audiobook.

I had hoped that this might be a book worth listening to, but sadly the narrator spoiled it for me. I can understand when a person is trying to give a relevant accent to the story but the voice just seemed to drone on and grate for some reason. I had listened to the sample provided by Audible, but I had hoped it might not be as bad as that sample seemed.

Alas it was not to be. With that in mind I hardly got further than the first couple of chapters, which was a real shame because any stories with horses interest me. Given I could return the audio book on the membership returns policy that is what I have done.

If the narration could be ironed out, then I would certainly consider re-buying the audio book.
