The accents were appalling but that really didn’t matter because the reading was superb. This was a funny, tearful and absorbing listen and I loved every minute of it!

What a wonderful book. Easy to listen to via audible. Right mix of happiness and sadness….. with humour and sarcasm throughout. It has beautiful characters that make the merry band - that makes you want to be part of them. Great tale - kept moving beautifully…. Feels very well thought out and planned. I’ve not read anything from this author before, but I certainly will be in the future. As a side note the MM is beautifully written, and whatever your preferences are: it’s done with care and respect xxx well done this author.

Witty, sarcastic and beautifully written

I had no idea what to expect, as I chose this title simply because I love the narrator, and the idea of a snarky mage appealed.
What I found was at times hilarious, at times heart breaking, and always enthralling. I fell in love with every character that joined the party, even those who aren't human.
Most of what I've read lately has been Paranormal Romance, or Romantasy, so I expected this to fall into the Romantasy genre. It doesn't. It's true fantasy, with a fairly subtle romance sub plot. If you're looking for spice, you won't find it. If you're looking for going on a quest and finding both love, and a found family on the way, this is the book for you.

A fantasy rollercoaster

Wow! What a rollercoaster!! This book had me laughing out loud one moment and crying the next. There's a diverse cast of characters and watching them all develop and change under the course of the story is a real delight. I found it really hard to stop listening, needing to know what happened next. I highly recommend this book.
