About this listen

Carole Seddon's trusty Renault is one of her most treasured possessions. So when it is vandalised, there's only one person she will entrust with its repair: Bill Shefford has been servicing the vehicles of the good citizens of Fethering for many years. But how could something like this happen in Fethering of all places?

Then the note is shoved under Carole's kitchen door: Watch out. The car window was just the start. She has been deliberately targeted. But by whom and why?

Matters take an even more disturbing turn when a body is discovered at Shefford's Garage, crushed to death by a falling gearbox. It appears to be a tragic accident. Carole and her neighbour Jude are not so sure.

Carol and Jude are like old friends.
I liked this last one very much and the plot was excellent.

Another enjoyable foray to Fethering, brilliantly read by the author. Although the BBC-type digs that middle-aged British women are all racist is tedious.

Fethering Mysteries latest.

Few authors have a command of the English language as Simon Brett. Often dismissed as a writer of ‘cozy mysteries’, Brett has a witty and sceptical turn of phrase that puts him by far at the top of my list. He also reads extremely well, varying his voice to exactly how I picture his characters. Brett is quite simply a joy to read or listen to -

Entertaining, clever - a perfect choice!

Another great Fethering mystery, particularly after its predecessor, which, whilst ok, seemed slightly subpar, somehow. Only one more in the series to go & I’m hesitating whether to go for a final binge now, or hold off for a bit…
