_______________

Gwen, the quick-witted Princess of England, and Arthur, future lord and general gadabout, have been betrothed since birth. Unfortunately, the only thing they can agree on is that they hate each other.

When Gwen catches Art kissing a boy and Art discovers where Gwen hides her diary (complete with racy entries about Bridget Leclair, the kingdom's only female knight), they become reluctant allies. By pretending to fall for each other, their mutual protection will be assured.

But how long can they keep up the ruse? With Gwen growing closer to Bridget, and Art becoming unaccountably fond of Gabriel, Gwen's infuriatingly serious, bookish brother, the path to true love is looking far from straight …

A fantastic story with great characters. While the narration does grow on you as the story goes on, it is very childish and distracting for a lot of the book.

Jarring narration

The story was wonderfully sweet and funny. Unfortunately, the narration wasn't great. The female narrator was decent, but the male narrator read in a very exaggerated way - like he was reading a children's book - and it was quite unbearable to listen to. I would recommend picking up a psycical copy of this book instead of listening to the audiobook.

Read the book instead!

listening to the male narrator was PAINFUL! it was such a shame as otherwise, it’s a great book.

Brilliant book, terrible male narrator

I've never written a review on here before, and I'm only on chapter 4, but the male voice actor who does Art's chapters is driving me insane. He's absolutely butchering the writing by reading like a cheery children's TV presenter even if it's supposed to be a serious or angry conversation. He puts stress on the wrong words in the sentences and doesn't pause in the right places which makes his chapters difficult to follow. I genuinely don't know if I can keep listening. It is painful. That said, I'm enjoying the story so far, and the female voice actor is absolutely fine, but like others have said: I'd suggest reading the physical copy rather than endure that narration.

I don't think I can keep listening to this guy

I'm really sad that the male narrator has ruined this audiobook experience for me. I've rated the story 5 stars and average of 3 to try and be fair because I can't listen long enough to know for sure and the author doesn't deserve a trash review. This is not any reflection on the writing. But truly the male narrated chapters are so bad that all I can do is count all the ways he makes errors on emphasis, tone, pause and intonation. It sounds like he is trying to do an impression of someone reading a children's picture book on tv, without actually thinking about the words being said. Gutted to have wasted a credit! I would like to purchase physical copy to give it a fair shot.

Dreadful male narrator.
