this is a good story fleshing out fred104 and various other characters as they interact in the haloverse

Thoroughly enjoyed the second book in the ferret series, going straight on to shadows of reach and divine wind after that. You really get invested in the ferret team as much as you do with more well known characters such as the Spartans in blue team. Well worth a listen.
