Get ready to be transported to the world of Harry Potter in a captivating production that features hundreds of unique voices and immersive sound design that brings the wizarding world vividly to life in Dolby Atmos. Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H.’

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

Starring Frankie Treadaway as Harry Potter, Max Lester as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Cush Jumbo as Narrator, and a full cast.

Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Editorial Review

Harry Potter like you’ve never heard it before
As a mother of elementary school children, nothing delights me more than seeing my kids begin to fall in love with the stories that empowered and inspired me when I was young. What’s even more special is that with this new full-cast audio edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, new audiences and established fans (like me!) will find it equally enchanting. The breathtaking sound design, immersive score, and outstanding performances by hundreds of actors had my kids on the edge of their seats, and I was squealing with delight right alongside them. Even if you know everything there is to know about Harry Potter, you’ve never heard it quite like this—and if you’re new to the stories, there has never been a better way to dive in. —Esther B., Audible Editor

First of all the actual vocal performance for the actors and actresses involved is fantastic. Everyone feels right in the role, and the overall narrative flows nicely. It is definitely an enjoyable way to dive back in to the story, and I stress the word back in that sentence

What I mean by that, is that the background sound effects feel far too much in most places. They make the voices hard to hear, and if you were listening to these stories for the first time, I think you’d struggle in places. Switching between the characters and the narrator can be a bit jarring in places as well, but this does get better as you adjust to the style

Overall I enjoyed the experience, but this does feel like a first attempt. For the next books I would hope they dial back the sound effects, and let the actors shine in the role

An enjoyable experience, with some caveats

It’s exactly what I was hoping for! Feels like I’m sitting in the theatre as I listen through speakers.

The voice actors are amazing. The sound effects are so great. Feels so immersive, can’t wait to listen with headphones too.

I don’t agree with some of the below ratings saying the sound effects are too much - I felt it’s exactly right. I want to hear the birds singing and the cars passing and so on. If not it may as well just be an ordinary audiobook.

Such a fantastic idea for a different way of experiencing these stories.

Amazing!

Wear headphones
I cannot stress this enough wear headphones I listen to the first five chapters without headphones and it was awful the volume was all over the place the narrator was loud the character voices were so quiet I could hardly hear them and I missed so many amazing sound effects bees buzzing bicycle bells, footsteps the rustle of leaves and rummaging in pockets. I was about to give up and leave a bad review but then I put on headphones the experience was like night and day the characters came to life, the sound effects enhanced the whole experience. Sipping of tea the creak of furniture, the howling of wind, crowing of birds, barking of dogs cheering, whispers and the extra grunts sigh gasps and chuckles of the actors. Music! I hadn’t realised there was any music that’s how quiet it had been without headphone. The music is an added bonus highlighting importance of characters and scenes. The actors give an amazing performance it sounded like a stage play incredible. I wish audible had put a message saying to get the full intended experience listen with headphone!

WEAR HEADPHONES!
