About this listen

Welcome to Brighton, England, the home of local crime reporter, Colin Crampton. Brighton is a great town on the south coast of England. There are long beaches, seaside piers, quaint lanes, and an ornate palace, the Royal Pavilion. But 1960s Brighton is also a world of louche clubs and seedy bars inhabited by racketeers and con-artists. So if Colin is to land the scoops his editor demands, he needs to play plenty of tricks of his own. There’s never a dull moment in Colin’s life of crime reporting. And he’s here to tell you about his adventure.

This box set contains books 1-3 in this bestselling series:

Headline Murder: It’s August 1962 and Brighton Evening Chronicle crime reporter Colin Crampton needs a front-page story. Then Colin gets a tip-off that Arnold Trumper, who owns the seafront’s miniature golf course, has disappeared.

Stop Press Murder: The nightwatchman is found murdered on Brighton’s Palace Pier. Colin Crampton thinks the killing is linked to the theft of a film from a What the Butler Saw machine.

Front Page Murder: Comic postcard artist Archie Flowerdew is set to hang for the murder of rival Percy Despart. And on Christmas Eve, too. Archie’s niece Tammy believes he is innocent. She persuades crime reporter Colin Crampton to take up the case.

BONUS READ INCLUDED: Murder in the Morning Edition from The Headline Hero Trilogy.

Excellent story line with characters that develop well. A few errors that stand out. Firstly the Sussex Express newspaper was published in Hastings not Lewes. There was an office there but the Parsons group printing office in Lewes was a general printer called Farncombes. Also the Southwick power station with 4 chimneys was part of a pair called Shoreham A and B. Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable read.
