Summary

If you grew up with an emotionally immature, unavailable, or selfish parent, you may have lingering feelings of anger, loneliness, betrayal, or abandonment.

This breakthrough audio course was created to help you revive your self-confidence and sense of self, value your own needs, and move forward in your life.

Your instructor, Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, has dedicated her professional life to helping adult children of emotionally immature parents (ACEIPs). She speaks to you from the heart with a warm, empathetic tone as she takes you on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

You’ll start by learning how to recognize emotionally immature behavior in your parents and other people in your life.

Then you’ll explore 12 ways emotionally immature parenting can continue to impact your life along with steps to break the detrimental patterns you’ve learned.

Once you complete the course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Revive your self-confidence
  • Build resilience
  • Set boundaries

  • Become who you were meant to be

Gibson’s approach includes evidence-based treatments and was created to meet the unique needs of ACEIPs by drawing on:

Listening to this felt extremely validating. As an adult child to emotionally immature parents, this wasn't only helpful for understanding my upbringing but also to see how I as an adult can behave like this at times. Excited for the journey forward!

Loads of "Ah Ha" Moments

The points that stood out to me from this were the importance of listening to yourself, knowing the truth about how you feel, and using your feelings and sense of being drained or energised to inform decisions about how to deal with issues and what to do in life. I found it so helpful!

A helpful guide

I'm a big fan of Lindsay C Gibson but was a little sceptical of this one for the first few minutes - as it's quite informal in style (I think because it was originally a video) and it's not all that long. But I was so wrong. Even though I've read all her other books, this one resonated with me like no other. It has countless "aha" moments of recognition, it put into words things I've felt all my life and it leaves me with a sense of strength and optimism and humanity every time I hear it. This is partly because it's presented by the author who is endlessly warm and witty and understanding. I've heard it several times already and am happy to know it's there, like a wise friend, waiting for me if I need it again. Love it.

My favourite, most valuable audiobook of all

Lindsey C Gibson is highly unusual as a psychologist in that not only has she developed a thorough understanding of what it is to have emotionally immature parents or others in your life who have negatively affected you, but she also has a philosophical and soulful way of delivering this information so that it is truly helpful, insightful and supportive. I highly recommend this audio book to anyone who has been on the receiving end of emotionally immature or narcissistic people.

Hugely valuable, insightful and effective

I wish I had discovered this work before my parents died - but their legacy still lingers, so it is valuable to me now. If your parents always made you feel guilty, obliged to fix them and their lives, or never good enough, please listen to this (and other books by same author) to experience a bit of liberating insight at last.

Highly recommended
