About this listen

He is everything she's been warned against. She is everything he hates.

I'm from a place where you eat or get eaten. Two gangs are at war, and I'm hungry for survival.

Growing up in a broken town doesn't make you a good man. In fact, the North Shore of the Falls has made me merciless.

I survive because I'm a good soldier for the North Shore Crew. I'm cool-headed, I never lose sight of my goals, and my only obsession is to wrench our town from the clutches of our sworn enemies, the Kings.

Alexandra Delacroix is just a job. Plain and simple. She lives in our neighboring town, in the millionaires' heaven they call Stoneview.

The plan is straightforward: charm her, uncover incriminating information about her senator father, and tip the balance of power in our favor.

But unlike the other rich girls from Stoneview I use as toys, Alexandra is kind, selfless… sweet. Sickeningly so. A bright pink cupcake with glitter and sprinkles on the icing, that kind of sweet.

We have nothing in common. Nothing but the secrets we keep.

And before I know it, my priorities change.

Before I know it… Alexandra Delacroix is my new obsession.

This is book two in a series of interconnected standalones. For mature listeners.

Not what I expected but really enjoyed the story; my favourite in the series. I enjoyed reading about how uni is in America as im from the UK. The best part of the story for me is how Alex started growing as a person and in the end she really did get some well deserved revenge.

not what I expected but I enjoyed the story unravelling

THIS is the dark romance I’ve been dying to read. Heartless Beloved gave me everything I crave in the genre — gritty plot, obsessive love, chaotic passion, and characters so broken you can’t help but root for them. Xi and Alex aren’t just a couple — they’re a goddamn chemical reaction.
Xi... where do I even begin? I didn’t expect to fall this hard. In Beautiful Fiend, he was just a shadow. In Heartless Beloved, he is the storm. Dangerous. Controlled. Utterly unhinged. But then he buys a pink lighter because it reminds him of her. He listens to every Taylor Swift album because she loves them (his favorite is 1989, obviously). He paints her, protects her, worships her — but only in his own dark, twisted way. He’s lethal with everyone, but soft with her. A walking contradiction. A sad boy with bloodstained hands and a beaded pink bracelet on his wrist. I AM NOT OKAY.
Alexandra Delacroix surprised me. At first, she’s the definition of a “yes girl” — controlled, suffocated by her father, stripped of all autonomy. But as the story unfolds, she transforms. The more chaos Xi brings into her life, the more alive she becomes. Watching her learn to stand up, take control, and explore her darkest desires was oddly empowering — and deeply satisfying.
The romance? Unhealthy. Toxic. Delicious. Xi doesn’t do boundaries. He does obsession. Possession. Worship. This is Touch Her And Die taken to a whole new level. But underneath the ferocity is a soul that only knows how to love one way: all-consuming. He doesn’t want her for a night — he wants her for eternity, no matter the cost.
What makes this book shine is that it’s not just dark for the sake of it — there’s plot. There’s character development. There’s a slow descent into madness and healing, all wrapped in blood and glitter. And that ENDING?! I had to reread it three times just to believe it happened.
Corvin King and Heather Firth were phenomenal in the narration. The emotions, the menace, the softness in contrast to the brutality — they nailed every single beat. Their chemistry as narrators made the story hit even harder.
Lola King is not writing romance. She’s writing obsession in its purest form. And I’ll happily let it ruin me every time.

My favourite part was the male narrator. his voice really highlighted the characters personality. the story had twists and turns but was a little repetitive. still good though. the spicy scenes and his voice were on point

Omg this book was one of the best I’ve read! The storyline is diverse and interesting, in no way predictable, I would never have guessed the direction it took. Totally immersive and it has left me wanting more! Loved it… thank you
