About this listen

Long before she ran away with Paris to Troy, Helen of Sparta was haunted by nightmares of a burning city under siege. These dreams foretold impending war - a war that only Helen has the power to avert. To do so, she must defy her family and betray her betrothed by fleeing the palace in the dead of night. In need of protection, she finds shelter and comfort in the arms of Theseus, son of Poseidon. With Theseus at her side, she believes she can escape her destiny. But at every turn, new dangers - violence, betrayal, extortion, threat of war - thwart Helen's plans and bar her path. Still, she refuses to bend to the will of the gods.

A new take on an ancient myth, Helen of Sparta is the story of one woman determined to decide her own fate.

The sequel to Helen of Sparta will be published by Lake Union Publishing in May 2016.

Books written about american characters should be read with an americaN accent
Books set from the mid 17th century? A mix. New country, you'd get away with a few American accents
But anything set pre 16th Century NO AMERICAN ACCENTS. Not Shakespeare, not Henry viii or any of his wives, Not Marcus Aurelius, Not ANY ROMAN, not any Englush king, queen, nobleman woman or child. It sounds pitiful.
l know why English accents are so prized. This would have sounded so much better with a good English narrator. The one you use sounds whiney. l want to shout out 'NEXT'. For goodness sake. She's Helen of Troy. She shouldnt sound like this. Compare The song of achiles with The Silence of the Girls. I had to return The Song of Achiles, l've listened to Silence of the Girls over and ovet.
Needless to say, any bad voice is simply a bad voice.
Oh, and it's Men- ah-lay-us. This narrator doesn't have a clue!

might be good, but american narration ruins it
