About this listen

“Elegant, propulsive, and utterly unputdownable… The work of one of our most talented thriller writers at the very top of her game.” —Lisa Unger, New York Times bestselling author of Confessions on the 7:45

Fast-paced and brilliantly unpredictable, J.T. Ellison’s breathtaking novel invites you to a wedding none will forget—and some won’t survive.

Jutting from sparkling turquoise waters off the Italian coast, Isle Isola is an idyllic setting for a wedding. In the majestic cliff-top villa owned by the wealthy Compton family, up-and-coming artist Claire Hunter will marry handsome, charming Jack Compton, surrounded by close family, intimate friends…and a host of dark secrets.

From the moment Claire sets foot on the island, something seems amiss. Skeletal remains have just been found. There are other, newer disturbances, too. Menacing texts. A ruined wedding dress. And one troubling shadow hanging over Claire’s otherwise blissful relationship—the strange mystery surrounding Jack’s first wife.

Then a raging storm descends, the power goes out—and the real terror begins…

narration was good, the story was just a bit meh. It created enough curiosity to keep me going but there was no thrill, no excitement, just wondering what would happen

kind of average

I listened to the end because this is easy to listen to, that’s because a child with an outline of ‘these are the elements of a thriller’ really could have written this. It is basic, predictable and dull.

None of the characters had enough depth for me to empathise with them. There were no clever plot twists.

An incredibly frustrating aspect of the story was that one of the main characters had the same name as a famous pop star, so instead of visualising the book character it brought to mind the rock star instead.

The one saving grace is that the narrator was good.

Not great
