Charlotte packs up and moves to be with her friend Ava after being beaten by Logan . When she arrives she’s not in a good state and is sent straight to hospital however Axel has let it be known to everyone but her she’s his fated mate. I really enjoyed this story and the strength Charlotte had to get away from an abusive partner however she’s very wary of Axel and finds it hard to trust anyone.

Okay, this family is for me. I love how they accept and help everyone. Ava is a strong female that got into a bad situation but got out when she could. Loved how all the characters worked together and the chemistry played between the two. I fell in love with the first book, but can't get enough of this series now. Great action, chemistry, fun and laughter. The narrator does an amazing job bringing all of the characters to life. AudiobookObsessionReviewer

This is a fated mate shifter story and it is a good story. I like the family overall and the background story line is pretty interesting. I had a couple of issues with the story. This story follows Axel and Charlotte. Axel is the older brother to Mav, from the first story. Charlotte is the best friend of Mav's mate, Ava. Axel was a bit of a downer- he's a beta and throughout the story, he complains a bit that he wasn't the alpha, even though this was postured more as a genetic/scientific fact. Charlotte was running from an abusive ex and her past with men made her really disbelieving of a good person. I wasn't a fan of some of her behavior but I also understand why she acted the way she did, in part. I kind of just wish it didn't drag a bit! But with the great family and interesting story line, I'm still liking the stories overall and looking forward to the next in the series.

Melanie Hastings was actually pretty good as the male characters but she affected a really high voice for the female voices and it was a bit shrill, though i could still listen. However, she did a great job differentiating between the characters and overall, she did a good job.

This book shows the emotion and strength needed to get away from a relationship that is abusive. The characters are well written and Melanie brings them to life very well.
