About this listen

A totally gripping and addictive Scottish detective mystery thriller

A lying ganglord. A troubled cop. A masked vigilante.

Working a strategic investigation, DS Scott Cullen of Police Scotland’s Edinburgh Major Investigation Team closes in on a long-time adversary.

Dean Vardy, Edinburgh’s latest kingpin.

Before, every time they thought they had him, his lawyer got him off. Campbell McLintock, another of Cullen’s adversaries.

But this time Vardy goes too far, murdering someone under his control.

Or does he?

After a witness dies, Cullen is soon desperately trying to hold the case together, with Vardy’s conviction dangling by a thread. Will McLintock get Vardy off yet again?

But soon, Cullen and his team are facing a different threat — a brutal vigilante, doling out frontier justice and obeying no laws. Can Cullen catch a killer who could be one of their own?

Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Stuart McBride, Alex Smith and JD Kirk, Heroes and Villains continues the bestselling Police Scotland series.

I thoroughly enjoyed these Police Scotland books and I’m sorry I’ve come to the end. One thing I’m not sorry about is I won’t have to listen to Bain anymore. I never ever thought I would criticise the superb Angus King but every time he performed the character of Bain I winced. I found Bain’s voice so annoying. I also found every sentence Bain was given was disgusting. He was awful. No spoilers but Bain and the golden sink. I’ll say no more. Please get rid of Bain. That is the only voice of the very many Angus does that is annoying and why for the first time ever in deducting a point. Every time I heard RIGHT SUNDANCE my teeth gritted. I’m sure neither Ed James nor Angus King will read this but if they do I’m really really sorry to give a negative review especially Angus. I’m sorry this review has been concentrated on one character because the whole series so far has been superb.
