Very revealing & un put downable. Essential reading for all marriages. Whether never had, never thought about or had an affair & looking to rebuild.

This is a great book with much to learn from, but it needs to be read between the lines and with a critical eye. It's very heteronormative and patriarchal, and some passages are just wishful thinking for somebody idealizing the 50s nuclear family myth. Nevertheless, baby and bathwater and all that, there's tons of good stuff here.

I'm on my second marriage. The crazy thing is I discovered this book and read it at the END of my first message. It literally had every argument we were going thru at the time! Unfortunately my wife did NOT want to read the book. No matter how much a pleaded. 8 years later I've remarried and we have STARTED OUT with this book and will continue to read it every year! It's better to start off with this even before you have any marital problems then to wait & read /need it later.
