Loved the 3 BP trilogy. Stark, but superb. This collection of short stories is slightly hit and miss. Some 3BP quality stories, but many more like Ball Lightning, which I found disappointing. I like Bruno Roubiek's soft delivery, but wonder if greater enthusiasm would help. Not my favourite Cixin Liu book.

Not on scale of the three body problem

These are hard stories to get into and besides some flowery language bordering on poetry, there's very little new here or written better elsewhere. It was an experience, no more.

Hard slog

More excellent stories by Cixin Liu. You'll be gripped by the intricate and almost mystical tales of science fiction. Only few authors can capture the spirit of science like Cixin Liu.
If you've read all of his epics you'll find stories that were the seeds for many of them, however unique and captivating as stand alone short stories.

Heart breakingly beautiful scifi stories

I went in with low expectations but was amazed by the depth and richness of the writing. There was genuine pathos in humanity yearning to connect to the larger meaning and space. Excellent narration

My first foray into Cixin Liu

Decidedly mixed bag here. I'd forgotten this was a collection of short stories going on and was pleasantly surprised to find myself engaged with the first couple. The variation from the standard Western world voice is a nice break.

I think this is a 2 1/2 sort of thing
