About this listen
Robin Ellis has had a year she'd like to forget. She's tired, overworked and most definitely not ready to spend the holidays with her rowdy family in Manchester. So when she discovers she forgot to cancel her honeymoon she sees this as the perfect opportunity to get away; it's time to relax and embrace adventure!
The last thing she expects is to clash with standoffish ski instructor Neve. But despite their rocky start these two unlikely people can't help but fall for each other under the starry Canadian skies.
They know that holiday romances don't last, and Robin has had her heart broken one too many times before, but can they overcome the distance between them and find a happily ever after together?
A sparkling sapphic wintry holiday romance, perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan, Heidi Swain and Jo Thomas.©2022 Rachel Bowdler (P)2022 Bonnier Books UK
I’ve spent the last two years listening to mainly hetero chick lit, despite being LGBT. Mostly the men have been downright annoying.
Even if you’re not LGBT this is such a beautiful story, and I really felt like I knew the characters. The characters were so well rounded!
An utterly lovely listen!

Robin ends up going on her honeymoon solo, after forgetting to cancel it following a relationship breakdown. She isn't exactly looking forward to it, and going away just before Christmas causes friction with her mum, so when she comes across the rather prickly ski instructor - Neve - it isn't the best start.
What follows is a warm and cosy story of friendship, love, and healing old wounds. Just what you need in the festive season.
I particularly enjoyed how well-rounded the characters were. Both Robin and Neve have difficult relationships with their mothers, for different reasons unique to them both, and this impacts their ability to open up and trust the other fully. And this feels so real. In order to move forward together, they both have to confront this and decide not to let their pasts dictate their futures.
For this reason I didn't even mind the third act break-up, which often irritates me as it can feel so contrived just to hit a genre standard. But this one fit so well, and it was wonderful seeing Robin and Neve work through everything to reach their happy ever after.
All in all a lovely Christmas read.
