About this listen

The stunning third book in the sexy, action-packed Crescent City series, following the global best sellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath.

Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she's going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that's no easy feat when she has no idea whom to trust.

Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he's in the Asteri's dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce's fate. He's desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri's leash, his hands are quite literally tied.

In this sexy, breathtaking sequel to the number one best sellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath, Sarah J. Maas' Crescent City series reaches new heights as Bryce and Hunt's world is brought to the brink of collapse—with its future resting on their shoulders.

Sarah J. Maas has done it again with Crescent City 3, crafting a masterpiece that perfectly combines all the elements that make her books so extraordinary. This installment is an emotional rollercoaster, seamlessly blending heart-stopping action, complex characters, and an intricate, breathtaking world.

The story kept me hooked from the first page, with twists and revelations that left me reeling. Maas has an unmatched talent for weaving intricate plots and emotional depth, and this book is no exception. The character development is stellar; the protagonists face challenges that push them to their limits, making their growth feel both authentic and satisfying.

What makes Crescent City 3 truly remarkable is how Maas balances high-stakes fantasy with deeply personal stories. The relationships—whether romantic, platonic, or familial—are rich and compelling, adding layers of meaning to the story. And the world-building? It's nothing short of dazzling, filled with vivid detail and a sense of wonder that immerses you completely.

My only regret is not picking up this book sooner. It’s a reminder of why I fell in love with Maas’s writing in the first place. If you’re a fan of her work, this is an absolute mus-read.

First of all: the narrator does a great job and Sarah J Maas is brilliant in creating this story and plot. Everything is well explained and many loose ends closed.

I enjoyed listening and recommend any J Maas fan to read this book.

I have to say that the complicated world building and many characters take away from the romance and story a bit. I wasn’t as invested in the male love interest as I’m usually am in a Maas books.

All in all a great fantasy book masterfully written.

Overall a solid last book of a series
