About this listen

Two men. One woman. A deadly obsession.

Maeve

I’ve spent my life running from the shadow of my parent's murder and the pain that never leaves, but not anymore. Becoming a detective was my way of taking control and fighting back. I’m good at finding killers, and even better at hiding my own scars.

But now women are dying, and the man behind it all is taunting me. He watches me, leaves me notes, and breaks into my house while I sleep.

I hunted a killer. I found the devil instead. And I know he’ll never let me go.

Djall

Some people fight their demons, I made friends with mine. I always knew I'd grow up to be a killer. Not like Aeron. He still thinks he’s the good one who can outrun what we are. I stopped running a long time ago.

Every life I take is a step closer to peace, until I find her. She’s broken in all the right places, furious and lost and aching for someone to pull her apart.

She thinks she’s hunting me. She doesn’t realise she already belongs to me.

I’ll keep her safe, even if I have to chain her to my bed to do it. Or maybe she’s just my next obsession, destined to be destroyed like the others.

Aeron

I’ve always been the good one. I'm a protector. The man who follows the rules. Except when it comes to her.

Maeve was never supposed to get caught up in this. I took a badge to keep her safe and to keep Djall at bay, but I see it in her eyes now. She shares the same darkness I’ve spent years trying to hide.

She thinks she’s in control. She has no idea what’s coming.

I won’t let Djall have her, but I won’t let her go either. And if protecting her means becoming the monster I’ve always buried then so be it. If Djall doesn’t break her… I just might.

well, I was not really a fan of the female narrator. Her voice was totally fine, but the way she read the lines just seemed like she was just reading the lines. It got better farther in the book, she started "using" emotions, but yeah, I kinda found her annoying. The story itself is great, and the plot twist just before the book ended had me floored! Aria Devon is a very talented writer and I loved this story as well. One thing that I also found kinda funny was that the book is advertised and also starts as Dual narration, but then it suddenly switches into Duet 😅
