I liked this because it focuses on slowing down and appreciating simple moments. The idea of hygge, creating a sense of comfort, warmth, and connection, comes across in a very practical way. It talks about things like building a cozy environment, spending meaningful time with people, and finding small daily pleasures that make life feel calmer.

Since it’s a short listen, it’s easy to get through, but it still gives a nice reminder that happiness doesn’t always come from big achievements. Sometimes it’s just about creating a peaceful space and enjoying the moment a little more.

So so soo good!!

I had to look Hygge up, naturally. The concept, as also explained by the author, is the art of creating comfort, connection, and wellbeing in everyday life. Hayes explains why Denmark consistently ranks among the happiest countries in the world, and she offers a thoughtful and accessible explanation. Hayes explores how environment, atmosphere, and intentional living deeply influence our happiness. At the heart of the book are ten guiding principles of Hygge: Atmosphere, Presence, Pleasure, Equality, Gratitude, Harmony, Comfort, Truce, Togetherness, and Shelter. These principles aren’t abstract theories — they are practical, relatable ways to reduce stress, quiet negativity, and foster meaningful relationships.

One of the strengths of this book is its simplicity. The ideas feel achievable and relatable. Small changes — creating a cozy space, prioritizing togetherness, practicing gratitude, and embracing life’s simple pleasures — can significantly improve emotional and physical wellbeing. There are sections on improving sleep, reducing stress, and cultivating healthier coping mechanisms (in relation to hygge) that are especially helpful in today’s fast-paced world. The emphasis on safety, comfort, and connection makes this book feel like a gentle reminder to slow down and be present.

I love the cover and I love self-care. The name got me curious, I'm glad I checked it out. As a neurodivergent person that struggles with clutter and lack of comfort I look forward to decluttering and having a more hyggelig home when I move in May. Thank you Rita and Tarryn!

This audio was excellent and informative. I learned I can make popperii from flowers that are starting to wilt. The recipe is in chapter 1. It is from starting and finishing decorating your home based on Hygge. I have never heard of Hygge until I heard this audio. So please give it a try you won’t regret it. Definitely 5 stars.
