About this listen

A Sunday Times Bestseller

‘I Love You, Byeee is poignant and properly funny; a bracing dip into nostalgia, but self-aware, too.’ Observer

The long-awaited new memoir and follow-up to the bestselling Ramble Book.

Hey, how you doing, casual browser? Adam Buxton here. Are you ready for some hot hyperbole about this book? Here we go …

In I Love You, Byeee, the highly anticipated follow up to the bestselling Ramble Book, I reminisce with hilarious and heartwarming candour about the highs and lows of working with Joe Cornish and revolutionising the worlds of DIY TV and podcasting in the process.

You’ll hear about my crazy times hanging out with notorious rock’ n’ roll hellraisers like Travis and Radiohead. I write with humour and heartbreaking poignancy about the challenges of parenting, losing my mother (to death, that is – we didn’t get separated in a shop) and the drug hell that led to me nearly dying in the arms of a comedy legend. There’s also a bit about arguing with my wife, getting instructions on edginess from Louis Theroux, going on Bake Off and much more that you didn’t ask for but definitely need.

For all that, plus hours of bonus waffle and original music, why not download the audiobook, too?

Phew! I think we both need a shower after that. Take care – I love you, byeee!

Another lovely and touching slice of self flagellation and doubt from one of my favourite broadcasters. Wonderful book and the audiobook extras were fantastic. Looking forward to the album and the third book, hopefully.

As a regular Podcat, I had been looking forward to Adam's new book. And it didn't disappoint. Well written, self reflective, possibly a little hard on himself, Adam has written another excellent book. And of course as my favourite podcaster, it's much better to have him read the audio. And a lovely long but of bonus waffle with Joe. I look forward to next one

Another excellent book

Aspects of Adam’s story were really engaging and interesting. Like when things started to take off for him and Joe, they met some interesting people and got into some fun situations.

I can’t help but see the similarities between his life and Alan’s. On the periphery of the big time at the BBC, never quite getting that big break, and with a list of people who wronged him along the way. It added to the comedy.

Only reason I haven’t gone for the five stars - too much recycled material. A little bit is ok, but most of the jingles and swathes of the book. I recognise the need to stay on brand, but come on Adam, you can make the book stuff stand alone from the Podcast stuff. Bit lazy.

Partridge in real life. Some good stories.

As always with Mr Buxton this is like slipping into a warm bath of fun and laughter bars from Athletico Mince.
So glad to get a bit of Bowie at the end of the audio book and then get a bit of Corn too. What a treat!

Also, whoever they got to read this one did a grand job.

what kind of meanie gives less than 5 stars?

Ramble book was so magnificent and timely that I feared a follow up could never live up to such high standards. But Buckles knows his audience and he knows his medium and this is an aural delight. So much is added to the narrative by experiencing this as an audiobook that I can't imagine reading it as simple text. He really is a master of the audiobook as its own art form.

Buckles retains his audiobook crown 👑
