About this listen

If you find yourself talking to writer Jayne Dandy, keep the conversation on comic books and Star Wars - best not to mention men, dating, or S-E-X. Her crippling fear of intimacy has made relationships a big no-no, but hiding behind her laptop isn’t going to get her lightsaber lit.

When her therapist recommends that she write erotica as a form of exposure therapy, Jayne is hesitant. But when she is unexpectedly downsized at work, she adopts a pseudonym and secretly publishes her sexy stories to make ends meet. Meanwhile, her adorable long-time friend Luke, co-owner of the popular Portland food truck Luke Piewalker’s, hears she’s been demoted and insists on hiring her to sling éclairs and turnovers at his side.

As Jayne tries to juggle her growing secret career and her newfound feelings towards Luke, her entire life is about to send Jayne and her X-Wing into a tailspin that will either make her face down her neuroses or trigger a meltdown of Death Star proportions.

the FL is too neurotic and the ML too moody and lukewarm to make it a good romance, but the story is quite funny and well-written

Too Neurotic

A well written story with great characters that are brought to life by the fantastic narration (regardless of the bad British accent)
This is a lighthearted book that is a great way to lose yourself in another world, especially when your one might be a struggle to navigate!

Fun, flirty and entertaining

I'm still reading this, not very far through yet but, had to drop in a review to say oh my word, what is that 'British' accent 😂😂
they're probably just a drop in character, but that's one of the worst British accents I've heard heard in an audiobook.

still reading, the story seems fun so far

This book was quite a deviation from my normal romance reading... like grand canyon sized gulf, it had a syrupy sweet first kiss. It was funny and wholesome in weird spicy way. Friends to lovers needing to overcome hostile ex's, direct romantic competition and nightmare family get-togethers.

The MC is deeply flawed in a way I can oddly relate to. I too have odd hangups as an adult, about stupid interactions that happened to me as a kid, that in no way should have impacted me so deeply. Long story short I get it. Also the supporting characters really added to the whole.
I adored the characters, they felt like people I know. I could find facsimiles in my own social circle.

I particularly love that there was a novella inside the story.

A big 4.5 stars from me

I had to stop listening. Normally I really enjoy my books but this one was painfully slow.
Sorry not a good for me

Boring
