But I really hope they are: because I can’t see a way we get off that ladder.

I began listening with a healthy dose of skepticism. As an I.T. professional I have seen the 'rise' of computers and A.I. first hand. My first thought was, 'can't we just pull the plug'? And of course that is an option, while we control the plug. Mankind's greed, ineptitude and ignorance - as always - will be our downfall. This is not just scaremongering. The reasoning is solid and backed up by many facts and sound logic. Highly recommend this audiobook.

BTW, I've just watched 'Mercy' with the delightful Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. Read this book and watch that movie and you'll lose some sleep.
