Okay you don't have to but its set in the same universe, contains many recurring characters and some serious spoilers if you intent to read or hear the other series

okay on to the actual story it's a lightweight affair with the sort of plot you've seen in many, many movies and series from Kelly's Heros, to Guards Guardsand the A team. Ambitious newbie is demoted to a group of disheartened, overlooked vets and when over confident elites get I trouble due to overconfidence the ragtag misfit team form the cavalry.

It's painless fluffy stuff and the fall to rise arc is fun and especially well narrated

It's also a free download for part one so costs nothing to give it a go but seriously listen to at least part 1 (also free) of Villainous Overlord of an Intergalactic Empire first ideally several parts to avoid spoilers
