A sprawling but self-contained fantasy epic. Has dated well too, both gender politics and LGBT are reasonably well represented (I imagine it rustled a few feathers at the time of release). Solid narration too.

This book is simply amazing. The characters are human, fallible and fantastical. The settings are awe-inspiring. The story itself is so all-encompassing that to even give a summary for a review would be nothing short of a total disservice to the book. This book has got me through some very tough times and I simply cannot recommend it highly enough. PLEASE, just read/listen to it (unabridged) and be utterly consumed by it.
