About this listen

Arguably Regency England’s most scandalous family of misbehaving rogues and ladies, the Cynsters are back! New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens continues her delectable new historical romance series with In Pursuit of Eliza Cynster, focusing on the first of three Cynster sisters, each on a determined quest to find a hero who’s her match in every way possible. When Eliza is kidnapped from her sister’s engagement ball, the plucky miss refuses to be daunted—and her escape leads her straight into the arms of a most unlikely champion. Devoted Laurens and Cynster fans, as well as readers of the acclaimed romance fiction of Lisa Kleypas, will find pursuing Eliza Cynster to be an exceptional delight!

I very much enjoy the Cynster stories and this is no exception. I enjoy stories that have the same characters in them and where they age. This is part of a mini series but can be read alone. It is perhaps not her best book but I still found it very entertaining.

A light hearted romp

Another brilliant story. Loved it from beginning to end. I loved the Scottish Laird. Loved his accent.
As for the narrator, Matthew Brenher, with time you get used to him, but I think he was better narrating this book than the others I listened to narrated by him. His Scottish accent was brilliant, I loved it. Can't wait to start the next one which is going to be about the Scottish Laird and Angelica.

Loved it

I'm a bit of a completist, so I'm working my way through all three of the Cynster Sagas, but OMG it's hard work with Matthew Brenher's narrations. I enjoy the intrigues of the stories and the returns of the previous cast, but it's not without some sacrifice at as someone else has described it his "spoken" rather than narrated style. His range of voices are dreadful, men with effeminate voice, women all with the same voice or squeaky falsetto voices, ridiculous :(

I find it hard to believe that Stephanie Laurens would be happy with this interpretation, nor the publisher happy and how anyone can be sat in the same room as him recording it thinks that it's a job well done, amazes me. I can't believe I'm going to commit to listening to the twelve books in the Cynster TNG series and they're all read by Matthew Brenher too - God help me!

The series is fine, but the narrator is appalling

Sadly Matthew Brenher did no more than read the words of this book. He brought neither the characters nor the story to life as so many narrators do. This was a pity because the story would have been quite enjoyable with a better narrator

spoken rather than narrated

Oh dear - how sad. Stephanie Laurens was author who introduced me to the genre of historical romance, and I've most of her books - but this one has to be the worst. The plot is simply a repeat of the 'Viscount Breckenridge' book and the overblown sex scenes have become tedious, with an excessive use of superlatives. Come on Steph - do better than this or pack up writing.

Lost the plot
