I listened to the full set all at once, (well, one after the other), and that might be the reason why I have that opinion. But, I felt like I would really get to know the characters. But I ended up telling the characters not to do that cos it will end in tears...and mostly, it did.
Also, I've binged on time travel for the last 6 mothers or so and my reviews are also comparing one author against another...not healthy. I think if I'd have spaced the compilation out, my reviews may have been kinder. There is some maths to do on this and that might enable me to assess my progression earlier on so I could consider if a book, or series of books, should be considered as 'worth it' or 'I think I'll put the cat out'.
I had an issue with the narrator also, and that was his inflections when reading. The spoken word needs to be acted and not just read. I almost threw in the towel on a couple of occasions.
Loads of potential but that was all
