I love the Lord of the Rings - the films! I've never read the books, so when my friend (who has read the books) recommended this book (to listen to) I thought I'd give it a go. But the character has no part in the films. I, therefore, spent over 3 hours listening to someone dissect the possibility of who / what someone called Tom Bombadil represents. I'm sure if you're a Tolkien super-fan, you'd love to spend an afternoon listening to it, but I longed for it to end! YOU MUST READ THE LofRs BOOK before reading this one - otherwise, you'll catch yourself asking 'What the #@$% is this chap going on about?!' :)
