Allan Prior was a prolific scriptwriter and novelist. He was the creator of influential police drama Z-Cars and also wrote several episodes of the 1970s science-fiction series Blake's 7. He co-created the BBC drama series Howards' Way and won several awards for his work including the Crime Writers' Association Award, Writers Guild of Great Britain Award, Grand Prix de Littérature Policière and a BAFTA.
