Loved the science-based approach in this book. Also really appreciated the PDF included with the audiobook, it really made a difference with the recipes and meal plans. I was surprised by the "don't make these mistakes" chapter. The author was totally real and practical about the stresses on women in this phase of life (still caring for children and caring for aging parents). Highly recommend this book!

In this comprehensive audiobook, the author not only explains why diets are so difficult and often fail but also why and how Intermittent Fasting (or “IF”) is so different (restricting WHEN you eat as opposed to WHAT you eat). And she backs it up with science. But the two facts that caught my attention were these. (First (quote): When you fast for longer than 12 hours, your body will start converting fat and using it for energy, all without you asking.” I had no idea. And to further the thought, this process is called “Ketosis”, a term that you might be familiar with due to it being the cornerstone of the popular “Keto Diet”. The second thing (related to Ketosis) is that “Within 24 hours, your cells are increasingly recycling old components and breaking down misfolded proteins linked to Alzheimer’s and other diseases. Whaaaaat? That’s right. IF works on the level of your DNA to help your body rejuvenate itself. Wow. And those are just a couple of tidbits that the author provides in this comprehensive and enlightening book. I highly recommend it.
