Summary

The schemes of the Gods are complex beyond understanding, and Raine feels she is an unwitting pawn. Hel demands she play the role of Consort to perfection, and she complies to protect her family. As conspiracies swirl about her, Raine realizes there is much simmering beneath the surface of the pantheon.

The mortal realm mourns the absence of their protector, but things slowly return to normal. The devastation left in the wake of the Sinister has imprinted on the land, however, and the Empire struggles most of all. While Arianthem slowly heals, the banished evil returns in secret, and this time the Sinister are deadlier than before.

Raine senses events from a distance, but is trapped, hopelessly trying to navigate the politics of Ásgarðr. Somehow, she is caught in an invisible web, a triangle between Sjöfn, Tyr, and Saga. And when Love, War, and Wisdom are at odds, it does not bode well for any realm.

Had originally listened as each title came out, now again as a binge through all 11 titles and it was even better!! Samantha Sabian has written an epic fantasy and the narrator does an amazing job of giving distinct voices to a huge cast of characters. Although after the binge I am saying 'By the Gods' alot 😊

First off, we have had to wait a long time for this audiobook ! Second, 'Intrigue of the Gods' started off the weakest of all the 'Chronicles', by the end it had 'upped it's game'. The cliff-hanger is another torment especially if we have to wait another long while to carry on this 'Epic Journey' ! I find it fascinating how the characters (especially Raine) have developed. I have 'breathed a sigh of relief' that clearly we have still more to come from 'The Chronicles of Arianthem' !
Once again the narrator is exceptional and I am heartened that previously SS has said VL is an important part of this 'project' !
I need to be careful not to give out spoilers but the final 6 words of this saga are clever and welcome despite adding to the suspense !
Please don't keep us waiting too long this time, the next instalment is very eagerly awaited !
