 Like soba noodles, udon noodles are a well known type of Japanese noodles. Made from flour, they are distinctively thick and white. うどんはそばと同様、日本の代表的な麺類で、小麦粉を材料としており、太く白いのが特徴です。
温かい汁をかけて食べるのが一般的ですが、冷たい汁をかける冷やしうどんや冷たいつゆにつけて食べるざるうどんも人気があります。
そばと同じように、天ぷらやわかめ、生卵など、さまざまな具材をのせて食べます。
麺の太さや調理方法は各地で異なります。
香川県はうどんの消費量が日本一の県として知られ、麺のコシが強い讃岐うどんは全国的に有名。讃岐うどんのチェーン店の中には、海外で人気を集めている店もあります。
