The Sendai Tanabata Festival held in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture from August 6th to 8th every year, is one of the most lavish and famous Tanabata festivals in Japan.毎年8月6日から8日にかけて宮城県仙台市で行われる仙台七夕まつりは、日本の 七夕祭りの中でも特に盛大で有名なものの一つです。
江戸時代初期、仙台藩主だった伊達政宗が文化向上のために七夕祭りを奨励したのが、仙台七夕まつりの始まりとされています。
仙台駅周辺を中心に、市内各地の商店街や家庭では、七夕の飾り付けが行われ、その数は毎年3000本を超えるともいわれます。
祭りの前日の8月5日には、1万発以上の花火が打ち上げられる「仙台七夕花火祭」も開催されます。
また、祭りの期間中はステージイベントやイルミネーションイベントなども行われ、毎年200万人以上の観光客が訪れるといわれます。©2017 KODANSHA　 English Language Learning
