Summary

 The Genbaku Dome is an atomic-bomb-damaged building in the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima City. Its official name is the Hiroshima Peace Memorial.

原爆ドームは広島市の平和記念公園にある被爆建造物で、正式名称は広島平和記念碑です。
原爆ドームは、原子爆弾が広島に人類史上初めて投下された1945年8月6日に被爆しました。
被爆前の建物は、チェコ人の設計による美しい建物でした。
原子爆弾はこの建物の付近の上空で炸裂しましたが、ほぼ真上から爆風を受けたために全壊せず、壁の一部とドームの鉄骨だけが残りました。現在も、被爆した当時の姿を保ち続けています。
原爆ドームは、人類史上初めて使用された核兵器の惨禍を伝え、核兵器の廃絶と世界平和を訴え続ける記念碑として、1996年に世界遺産に登録されました。
