 Takayama City, sometimes known as Hida Takayama, is located in the Hida region in northern Gifu Prefecture.

高山市は岐阜県北部の飛驒地方にあり、飛驒高山とも呼ばれます。
江戸時代、城下町だった高山は幕府の直轄地・天領として栄えました。
商人の町だったさんまち通りでは、現在も江戸時代のように、出格子と連子窓を備えた町家が並びます。
春と秋には、江戸時代から続く高山祭が行われ、豪華な屋台の巡行が人々の目を楽しませます。
江戸時代から始まったといわれる朝市も、高山名物。市内の2ヵ所で開かれる朝市は、市民の台所です。
高山から少し足を延ばせば、有名な温泉地である奥飛驒や、世界遺産でもある白川郷を楽しむこともできます。
