About this listen

A dazzling Audible Original written by Natalie Cooper, performed by Jenna Coleman (Victoria, The Cry)

Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape.

But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

Hired as a consultant at the firm where Iris works as engineering manager, Hunter has a knack for knowing just what to say to irritate her, and Iris can’t help rising to the spark in his eyes each time.

Sent away on a work trip together, Iris is taken out of her comfort zone. As their connection deepens, will Iris finally be able to face the memories that have been haunting her for years? Can her blossoming relationship with Hunter survive some brutal truths?

Only one thing is certain: The spark between them is beyond Iris’s expertise, and there's no running away from it.

Loved this audiobook. Could not stop listening to it. So many different emotions. I normally spend a book trying to guess what the ‘thing’ is but this time I didn’t and it really knocked me sideways.

Didn’t see it coming at all!

Great one, beautiful banter between pretty much all the characters. And just when you got comfortable with the storyline, an expected twist. Absolutely loved it.

I liked everything about this! Their slow-burning relationship drew me in, I was gripped by the naturalness of it, and wanted more. And when the 'thing' is revealed (no spoilers!), I cried alongside Iris, totally feeling her pain. This book became a part of me, and and I'm going to keep it inside for a while ❤️‍🩹

The characters were so real!

I throughly enjoyed this book and got lost in the story. I felt invested in the characters and what the outcome would be.
The intensity between the main characters grew and grew with each chapter. The author added funny, witty moments between hunter and Iris that worked well within the story.
I thought Jenna Coleman did an amazing job narratoring, she brought the story to life.
I would highly recommend this book.

The chemistry between hunter and Iris was written with incredible intensity.
