About this listen

THE GODS OF IRELAND ARE GOING TO WAR.

The Tuatha Dé Danann won Ireland in a battle with the Firbolgs. Now they must defend it against underworld armies, druid-kings, and a traitor within their own midst.

Join Lugh as he leads the Tuatha against Balor of the Evil Eye. Meet Amergin, whose poems can silence storms, and walk with Angus as he searches Ireland for a woman he met in a dream. Witness the titanic struggle of the Battle of Moytura, where druids hurl mountains and the blood of gods soaks the soil.

From family feuds to wars of conquest, and from the Hill of Tara to the cliffs of Kerry, Irish Mythology: The Children of Danu is the story of how the gods won and lost Ireland, then clung on in the shadow of the men who took her.

Listening to this has been an enrapturing journey into mythic time. The stories are beautifully, written and the reading is so captivating, I loved every minute of it. I listened to this in preparation for my very first trip to Ireland and it has only galvanized my curiosity to meet this mysterious main character of these stories, the land herself. I recommend this to whomever is interested in being carried into mythical atmosphere and returned with a different seeing of the world. Daniel is a masterful storyteller can't recommend him enough. Thank you!

I am a lover of Mythology from all over the world yet as an Irishman, I have been fearfully neglectful in reading up on the Irish myths, I never really found the right way into it. I was never a good student. I have always been fascinated by the Tuatha. This book has opened up doors previously locked to me through my own inability to really dive into it. I cannot tell you how much this read has opened up for me and given me back a connection to Ireland I have felt somewhat missing as I live in England now.

I just wish there was more and more and more.

Stunning and Beautiful

To me it is clear how much Tolkien’s writing was influenced by this Irish Mythology. Although I think I prefer the closeness of the Scottish folk tales. As man descended from the old Irish kings I found the tales inspiring, and surprising in their grandness.
