Summary

In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon. But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans. He wants to pick up girls. Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not. After one misguided adventure, Bell quickly discovers that anything can happen in the labyrinth--even chance encounters with beautiful women. The only problem? He's the one who winds up the damsel in distress! Action & Adventure Adventure Fantasy Science Fiction Fiction

it was really nice to be able to listen to the light novel of one of my favourite series. shame it was over so quickly. and how they did voices was a bit weird since it was dependent on who's prospective we were seeing instead of by gender. but Still enjoyed it a lot. hopefully we won't be waiting long for the rest to come out.

nice to finially read the light novel.

I admit, I'm not the biggest follower of these adventure stories so it certainly isn't aimed at me but that is to say, i don't dislike them either.
The story is pretty much "fine" but the revelations aren't all that interesting and nothing actually really develops or happens. The story sets out okay to begin with, the story sets out the setting and how the "dungeon" is so important to the town, its mostly interesting and the initial characters are likeable, sadly as the book progresses, more characters are added and most lack any character or are just a hindrance added to the story to drag the plot along. This is a common theme i found in this story, the initial plot is interesting, the struggle to make money, to grind the dungeon, to help Hestia etc, it all is okay but the more it goes forward, the more it just feels like copy/paste with some small changes to avoid repeating, despite this though, it feels nothing actually happens, the small area's the plot moves forward, we spend with nothing happening for a long time to make up for that little progression.
Otherwise, i didn't enjoy the characters, most of them was pretty annoying or as mentioned, exist to fill the time slots or just to be part of the MC's harem, many people take to the guy for no reason, doesn't matter how strong they are who rich, this poor kid is apparently everyone's favourite dish, it just feels so in-authentic, like i know fantasy and harem end up this way but there is normally at least a small reason given as to why. The actual casting for voices also feels bad, i have gone through quite some audio books which are light novel adaptions and they seem to do a very good job with voice casting, this one feels very unfitting, the voices for many characters don't really fit or are just annoying to hear and it makes it hard to take them serious, also whilst other books share Voice actors across characters, they do use different tones or voices to create difference, this just has several voices shared with no real difference, you have to work it out yourself.

As said, maybe i am critical as it just isn't my favourite genre but it isn't a book i would recommend, much better options like KonoSuba are out there which does most what this tries to, but much better, this feels like it just wants to be a video game plot without the controller.

A very "Mediocore" story
