About this listen

One of the most hopeful, honest and wildly imaginative novels you will ever listen to.

This is the story of Isaac and the Egg, a grieving young man and his unforgettable new friend, who meet at exactly the right time.

---

Isaac stands alone on a bridge and screams.

Something screams back.

And that, like everything which follows, is unforgettable.

This is an audiobook about a lot of things - grief, hope, friendship, love. It's also about what you'd do if you stumbled into the woods at dawn, found something extraordinary there, and decided to take it home.

It's a tale that might seem familiar. But how it speaks to you will depend on how you've lived until now.

Sometimes, to get out of the woods, you have to go into them. Isaac and the Egg is one of the most hopeful, honest and wildly imaginative novels you will ever listen to.

If you listen to one more book this year, make it this one. Wonderful story and excellent narration from Johnny Flynn.

Outstanding

This is such a beautifully sad story of loss and where the head and heartache can lead one, while wading through it, Johnny Flynn is the most perfect narrator for this story. His voice and delivery are superb. Brilliantly done Johnny Flynn, thank you.

Beautiful story, wonderfully narrated

I loved this book, and it was a delight to hear it read so beautifully. It’s original, quirky, moving, sad, funny and gripping, all at the same time. A story about a 29 year old man and an egg shouldn’t resonate so deeply, but everything about the world the author has created here feels so visceral and close to home, incredibly it all works. Hope to come across a lot more from this author in future!

Best book I’ve listened to all year!!!🥚

Just the most brilliant, original, funny and touching debut from Bobby Palmer. An absolute joy. Deeply moving but also so human and uplifting, packed with heart. Johnny Flynn does a particularly good job of the narration. Egg's dialogue had me in stitches, sobbing with laughter - the kind where you're laughing so hard you can barely breathe. There were also tears of sadness, feeling the intensity of Isaac's grief and pain, but always done with a lightness of touch rare in a debut novelist. Utterly, utterly brilliant. I realise I haven't enjoyed a book so purely in three years - and I've read many brilliant books. 👏

My book of the year - funny, poignant & ❤️ warming
