Jaws is the classic blockbuster thriller that inspired the three-time Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg movie and made millions of beachgoers afraid to go into the water. Experience the thrill of helpless horror again—or for the first time!

Jaws was number 48 in the American Film Institute's 100 Years...100 Movies, and the film earned the coveted number-one spot on the Bravo network's 100 Scariest Movie Moments countdown.

This timeless tale of man-eating terror that spawned a movie franchise, two video games, a Universal Studios theme park attraction, and two musicals is finally available on audio for the first time ever!

Would you listen to Jaws again? Why?

I would, the story is such a good one

What other book might you compare Jaws to, and why?

As someone with a deep (and completely irrational!) fear of sharks, there is no comparison for me

What about Erik Steele’s performance did you like?

I did not hate it, infact i quite liked it after a while. I thought he was quite slow going, but then i think that is probably how the characters are meant to be! By the end i had grown quite fond of Erik's voice

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Love it when a smug someone gets what's coming to them! It is a plot that was changed in the film, so whenever I read or listen to this book i enjoy the 'full story' and the deeper characterisation

Any additional comments?

Dont listen to this to try to fall asleep!!

One of my all time favourite books

Unusually, the original telling of jaws isn't as good as the film. The description of the shark is still very good, and the characters are fully realised. The barebones of the story is still good - who doesn't love to hear about a huge killer shark.

Unfortunately, the extra insight provided into the characters motivations/feelings added very little and I found myself skipping some bits.

The narration is really good though and the story isn't too long. I listened to it over a weekend and it was pretty painless.

Jaws - not as a captivating as the film

I cannot complain about the narration, which was excelent. The drama surrounding the small city at the beach was interesting at first but it became cringy. Overall I’m disappointed because of all the unanswered questions about the shark.

It’s an outdated beach novel

Excellent narration that really involves you in the story. Different to the film but thats a reward in my opinion. Really enjoyable 👌

Great audiobook

The assumptions made in the book. What passed for "racy" in the 1970's. Parts of this great story are like a Jackie Collins book.
But the Great White is always there. The tension even during a badly paced dinner party scene still draws you back tot he shark.
The conversation with a reporter on the beach. I'm left waiting, worrying and fretting. I know its coming. The book does this better even than the film.

I do miss the more loquacious Quint of the movie; "Here's to swimmin' with bow legged women"

The 70's was Another World
